Tips to Extend Your Thermal Fluid System’s Service Life

When correctly maintained and operated, thermal fluid (“hot oil”) systems can provide many years of safe, reliable and efficient process heating where moderate to high temperatures (typically 350 to 750 deg F) are required. To ensure this, operation and maintenance by well-trained personnel is essential. Easy access to the supplier’s equipment manuals should be ensured and operators should know whom to contact to answer questions and get help with troubleshooting. A program should be in place where normal readings of temperature, pressure, flow etc. are known and regularly compared to operating conditions. Here are some tips to help extend your system’s service life:TFS services, tunes, and can provide efficiency analysis for existing systems

Monitor Your System

Maintain design flow

Choose the right heat transfer fluid and check it regularly

Avoid unnecessary start-ups and shutdowns

Keep expansion tank cool

Ensure sufficient venting in heater room

Maintain pump(s)

Check burner

Inspect heater

Ensure Consistent Power Supply
